This video explains the basics of tags in html, what html is and how much of it you need to learn to build web pages. Using a WYSIWYG editor you really don’t need to know much to start but when you want to be a better web publisher, knowing the basic tags is very useful.
WYSIWYG by the way stands for what you see is what you get. These editors generally have tow windows you can toggle between. One is called the visual editor which shows you what parts of the code will be displayed and the second shows you the code itself with the tags. There are several free WYSIWYG editors available and if you have office then Front Page is available for you to use.
When you become more ambitious then you may start looking at programs to purchase such as Dreamweaver, but I highly recommend you take a look at XSitePro first before you decide. It has a range of fantastic options that are simply not available in any other program.
